SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf Participates in Events in Turkmenistan
A delegation led by Rovshan Najaf, President of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), visited Turkmenistan on 16–17 April 2026 at the invitation of Maksat Babayev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Chairman of the State Concern “Turkmengas.”
Within the framework of the visit, on 16 April 2026, the Azerbaijani delegation took part in a scientific and practical conference held in Ashgabat titled “Turkmenistan – People’s Republic of China: 20 Years of Strategic Partnership in the Gas Sector.” During the event, participants engaged in comprehensive discussions on the prospects for development of the gas sector, energy security, and opportunities for cooperation in the field of sustainable energy.
On the following day, 17 April 2026, the delegation led by Mr. Najaf attended a ceremony marking the commencement of the fourth phase of development of the “Galkynysh” gas field, located in the Yoloten area of the Mary region of Turkmenistan.
The events were also attended by Qismet Gozalov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan.
