The Azerbaijani delegation participated in a seminar on the World Customs Organization’s (WCO) regional training centers held in Ashgabat

The international seminar, titled “The Role of Regional Training Centers in Strengthening Regional Connectivity,” took place in the capital of Turkmenistan.

 

The event was organized on the occasion of the opening of a new Regional Training Center of the World Customs Organization in Ashgabat. It brought together representatives of customs administrations from Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Japan, and Hungary, as well as representatives of international organizations.

 

During the seminar, participants discussed the role of WCO regional training centers in capacity building, the modernization of training and professional development systems, the enhancement of regional cooperation mechanisms, and the exchange of best international practices.

 

In addition, views were exchanged on expanding the institutional capacities of regional training centers, updating training programs, strengthening knowledge and experience sharing, and improving coordination of activities at the regional level. Presentations were delivered on WCO approaches, regional training models, and national practices.

 

On the sidelines of the event, a bilateral meeting was held between representatives of the customs services of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. The parties discussed prospects for deepening institutional cooperation, expanding the exchange of experience, and further developing collaboration on a more systematic basis. They also exchanged views on facilitating expedited border crossings through the use of advance information.
