The Cultural Days of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan continue with a rich and diverse programme. On 5 June, an exhibition entitled “Pearls of Azerbaijan’s National Heritage” was inaugurated at the State Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan named after the Great Saparmurat Turkmenbashi in Ashgabat. The exhibition was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Addressing the opening ceremony were Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Nursakhet Shirimov, Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Adil Karimli, and Director of the State Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan Ismail Orazov.
During a guided tour of the exhibition, guests were informed that the presentation brings together several thematic components, including “Our National Heritage Living in the Works of Azim Azimzade” from the collection of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, a display of traditional and author carpets from the collection of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, an exhibition of traditional handicrafts, and a fashion showcase entitled “National Motifs in Contemporary Fashion.”
The exhibition features works by the People’s Artist Azim Azimzade (1880–1943), one of the founders of Azerbaijan’s professional graphic arts school. Through museum exhibits accompanying the artworks, visitors are also introduced to the historical and cultural environment depicted in his creations.
