Development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan within cultural platforms was discussed

On 5 June, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Adil Karimli.

 

The parties discussed the current state of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, as well as prospects for its further development. They underscored the important role of culture in strengthening the historically established bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the two fraternal peoples.

 

Particular attention was paid to the importance of further expanding cooperation among cultural institutions, museums, libraries, creative ensembles, and specialized educational establishments of the two countries.

 

The participants noted that the Cultural Days of Azerbaijan being held in Turkmenistan make a significant contribution to fostering closer cultural ties and enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries. It was highlighted that the programme includes screenings dedicated to Azerbaijani cinema, lectures reflecting Azerbaijan’s rich literary and artistic heritage, as well as a variety of exhibitions.

 

The sides also emphasized the importance of implementing joint projects, exhibitions, and other cultural initiatives aimed at promoting the rich historical and cultural heritage of both countries. The need to further intensify contacts between artists, cultural figures, and representatives of the creative intelligentsia was likewise highlighted.

 

The meeting further included an exchange of views on expanding cooperation within the framework of international organizations and cultural platforms, as well as on exploring new formats of partnership aimed at deepening Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

 

Concluding the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in the continued successful development of bilateral relations and expressed confidence that constructive dialogue would continue in the interests of the prosperity and well-being of their peoples.
